Join us for an afternoon dedicated to exploring innovative ways to integrate iPad into lessons across the school curriculum. This engaging event is designed specifically for educators looking to harness the full potential of iPad in their teaching. Through a series of subject-specific lessons, you'll become a student for the afternoon and experience firsthand how iPad can transform learning in Science, English and Computing lessons. 

Whether you're an experienced iPad user or just starting your journey, this event will provide practical ideas, hands-on demonstrations, and an opportunity to collaborate with fellow educators.

13:15 - Welcome & Introduction

13:45 - Science Lesson - Investigating Sound

Get ready for a hands-on science lesson where you’ll explore how sound behaves and how we can reduce noise using different materials! Using iPad, you will:

  • Measure Sound Levels: Use PhyPhox on iPad to record sound levels with and without various insulation materials.

  • Log Your Data: Create a detailed spreadsheet to organize your data and findings. 

  • Visualize Results: Use Numbers to create easy-to-read graphs that show how effective each material is at blocking sound.

14:15 - English Lesson - Create your own Podcast

Join the world of podcasting and become a storyteller, editor, and producer—all with your iPad! In this lesson, you will:

  • Record Your Voice: Create a script in Pages for a podcast, using Presenter Mode to perform the script.

  • Edit Like a Pro: Use GarageBand to cut, rearrange, and perfect your podcast

  • Add the Finishing Touches: Experiment with sound effects and music to make your podcast unique.

15:00 - Computing Lesson - Design your own app

In this exciting lesson, you’ll use your iPad to bring your ideas to life by designing an app prototype in Keynote! Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Brainstorm Like a Developer: Choose a topic and decide how your app will help users explore or learn about it.

  • Design Interactive Screens: Use Keynote to create app layouts, buttons, and features that look and feel like the real thing. 

  • Present Your Prototype: Showcase your app design to your classmates and explain how it works!
